The Internet and Democracy
Digital media in general, and the internet in particular, are reshaping old political institutions, movements, and identities. This is happening at a time when, simultaneously, the borders between the global and the local, and between the private and the public, are being questioned. What is the significance of these developments for the exercise of political control on global as well as local levels? What are the new possibilities for political communication, participation, and identity? And which challenges are traditional, national forms of politics and democracy facing?
